MANUEL VOLMAR

Manuel Volmar is a graduate of the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art (B.F.A. Design, Edition, Advertising) and the competition-based admission École Duperré(M.F.A. Environmental Design).

As a student, Volmar traveled to Marrakech, Morocco to intern at the Centre de Formation et de Qualification des Métier de l’Artisanat à Marrakech (CFQMAM) where discovered traditional Moroccan craftsmanship. He was mentored by the very best Moroccan artisans.

Weaving contemporary design and traditional craftsmanship, while taking inspiration from nature, is Volmar’s primary concern. He conceives and produces objects as precious as they are functional, both as a celebration of traditional craftsmanship and a relentless exploration of new approaches and material innovations. As a result, Volmar’s designs suggest wholesome experiences. They throw us back to ancestral histories in which mind and body alike are called upon to remember an actualized past.

In the past 2 years, Volmar has participated in the 38th edition of Furniture China Shanghai (2016), has collaborated with renown designer Eric Gizard for D’Days in Paris (2016), and was invited in François Bernard’s Wild space for Maison et Objet (2016). He has also launched his own practice, Volmar Manuel Design (VMD) and has worked on prestigious projects, including for many high-profile residences, the
Royal Golf de Marrakech (2018), Morocco’s Royal Family and His Majesty King Mohammed VI (2018), The Museum of Hunting and Nature in Paris (2018), and Martin Kobus’ San Francisco Decorators Showcase (2019).
